A new restaurant serving atypical Korean dishes has opened in Prospect Heights, replacing the popular Mexican spot Pequeña on Vanderbilt Avenue. Pequeña’s owners, siblings Chelsea and Ben Altman, partnered with chef Liz Kwon to open the new spot, White Tiger, with a menu full of both Korean staples— like noodle soup, grilled short rib and fried chicken wings — and new twists on that theme, like jaeyook rice gnocchi, deviled eggs with fish roe and fried chicken served with daikon and jalapenos, the owners said. White Tiger is open weekdays at 12 p.m. and at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Fawkner, 191 Smith St., Boerum Hill

The team behind Union Hall and The Bell House have opened their newest bar and restaurant on Smith Street in Boerum Hill. Fawkner, which comes from a term for Falconry, is a 2,300-square-foot craft beer bar that serves upscale bar food, including a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich made with chow-chow, corn pudding, and a maple syrup dipper as well as frites with housemade mayonnaise, Japenese-style spicy mayo, maple mustard or remoulade. The bar will also have a selection of whiskey, cocktails and wine.

Windsor Roast House, 426a Seventh Ave., Park Slope

Type of Cuisine: American with an emphasis on roasted meats.

Windsor Roast House is a paradise for meat lovers, serving platters of roasted pork tenderloin ($19), beef ($18), leg of lamb ($20), marinated skirt steak ($21), braised brisket ($18) and salmon ($21). Each platter comes with flat bread, au jus dipping sauce and two sides such as macaroni and cheese or roasted potatoes. There are also burgers (the $16 Windsor burger is a mix of filet mignon, brisket and angus beef) and sandwiches including a $14 buttermilk chicken sandwich topped with cole slaw. Despite the meat-centric menu, vegetarians are welcome: there’s a veggie burger and several vegetarian salads.

Choyster’s, 214 Greene Ave., Clinton Hill

Type of Cuisine: Raw bar starring oysters; Burgers

Just in time for fall, Clinton Hill locals can now tuck into club chairs and sling back oysters at a raw bar from the owners of Dough and Choice Market. Choyster’s looks like the the Nantucket den you never had, decked out in leather with a fireplace and pretty back garden. Cocktails are made with artisanal liquor, local craft beers are on rotation, and a glass cheese box displays serious dairy offerings. Burgers and sandwiches make the menu as well.

Achilles Heel, 180 West St., Greenpoint
Type of Cuisine: American

Local restaurateur Andrew Tarlow’s Achilles Heel has been around Greenpoint for a while, but the bar recently made its menu way more ambitious, with a former sous chef from Diner and Marlow and Sons helming the ship. Lee Desrosiers will be serving four or five course dinners from Tuesdays through Saturdays for $45 to $65, according to Grub Street. But those who stop in for a less elaborate meal will still be greeted with menu options that trump typical bar fare, like beef tendon and kohlrabi salad and a coulotte steak cooked in bone marrow.
