FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Want a pop of red in your home or office? Head down to Bowling Green Park Wednesday for some free, freshly uprooted, geraniums.

More than 4,000 potted geraniums will be up for grabs during the annual Adopt-A-Geranium event, a giveaway sponsored by the Downtown Alliance, a Lower Manhattan advocacy group.

The flowers, which are currently rooted in Bowling Green Park, will be unearthed to make way for new plantings — tulips that will bloom in the spring.

The gratis greens will be handed out from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Oct. 7, at Bowling Green Plaza.

According to the organizers, geraniums are relatively low-maintence plants, but they do thrive in lots of light. For more tips on geranium care, head here.
