All Weekend

► ‘Open Market’ Meatpacking Festival

Where: All over the Meatpacking District
When: All weekend, from Oct. 2-4.

The entire Meatpacking District is one big high-end carnival this weekend, with loads of free activities, including outdoor yoga, public art installations, live music, games, free massage and meditation classes, plus some limited-access workshops and tours of local businesses. It's probably best to start your Open Market experience by picking up a festival guide at the information booth on the 14th Street southwest plaza, with a map and schedule of all the weekend’s fun.

Friday, October 2

► ‘Archibald Motley: Jazz Age Modernist’ Opens

Where: The Whitney Museum, 99 Gansevoort St. in the Meatpacking District
When: Opens Friday, Oct. 2, runs through Jan. 17

The Whitney’s newest exhibit features the world of one of the major artists of the Harlem Renaissance, known for his mastery of color and evocative depictions of urban culture in his hometown of Chicago, as well as Paris and Mexico. The installation spans the museum’s sky-lit eight floor galleries and is the most expansive look at his work in two decades, according to the Whitney.

Saturday, October 3

Art in the Park in Straus Park

Where: West 106th Street between Broadway and West End Avenue, Upper West Side
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This free event marks the 100th anniversary of this small park with vendors, including artists and artisans, as well as musical guests The Blue Vipers Of Brooklyn and speakers who will touch on the park’s history.

Dimensions Puzzle Hunt 

Where: Museum of Mathematics, 11 E. 26th St., Flatiron District
When: 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

It is probably going to rain a lot this weekend, so head indoors for “What the Tortoise Taught Us,” an afternoon of solving puzzles, hunting down clues, and solving riddles related to the works of Lewis Carroll. The cost is $35.

Submerge NYC 

Where: Pier 21, Hudson River Park, West Village
When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This outdoor marine bonanza is expected to go on rain or shine, with fishing, kayaking, scuba diving demos, music and dance. In addition, dozens of local organizations doing marine research will present their findings at an expo. There will be an interactive tent where you can conduct your own experiments.

► My Dog Loves Central Park Fair

Where: Naumburg Bandshell, Central Park near 72nd St., Upper East Side
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Central Park is hosting a fair for canines and their companions with games, training sessions and swag. Dogs can compete for treats and learn a new trick or get microchipped so they can be easily found.

► Grand Opening of New Sugar Hill Children’s Museum

Where: Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling at 898 Saint Nicholas Ave. in Harlem
When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Celebrate the opening of the new museum with a stoop party outside and an open house inside. The museum’s three galleries will be open to the public and there will be fun activities for children like a storytelling marathon, live music, and hands-on art projects.

Mapping Me

Where: City Museum of New York, 1220 5th Ave. at 104th St., Upper East Side
When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Explore the museum’s Saving Place exhibit, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the city’s landmarks law. Afterwards create your own personalized borough map of your favorite spots and some of the ones you have always wanted to visit.

Sunday, October 4

Pickle Day

Where: Orchard Street between Delancey and East Houston Streets, Lower East Side
When: 12 to 5 p.m.

The Lower East Side Business Improvement District’s annual fall street fair includes more than a dozen picklers from across the city, a briny dunk tank, the first-ever “Pickle Pooch Parade” dog costume contest, live music and food from local eateries.

Animal Blessing

Where: The Church of the Resurrection, 119 E. 74th St., Upper East Side
When: 12:40 p.m.

Animals of all shapes, sizes and species are welcome to get a blessing by a priest and meet other pet owners outside the church.

► Taste of Battery Park City

Where: 220 Vessey St., Battery Park City
When: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Neighborhood restaurants including Shake Shack, Dos Toros and Parm, will be donating taste plates of food to benefit local public elementary school P.S. 89. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the event and include five tastes from any of the participating restaurants. VIP Tickets are $1,000 for a table of 6 and it provides 24 tastes, wait service and a VIP gift. Beer and wine will be available for cash sale.

► Music on Madison: Organist Andrew Henderson

Where: Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, 921 Madison Ave., Upper East Side
When: 3 p.m.

Andrew Henderson will perform as part of the Saint Andrew Music Society’s 51st Season to celebrate his 10th anniversary as the church’s director of music and organist. He will perform pieces from Franck, Pachelbel, Saint-Saens, Howells, Bingham and Weaver.

NY Gypsy Brass Showdown

Where: Schimmel Center, 3 Spruce St., Financial District
When: 7:30 p.m.

Watch four diverse brass bands give it their all at the closing event for the 11th annual NY Gypsy Festival. Tickets are $19, $10 with student ID.
