ASTORIA — A woman managed to chase away a man who broke into her Queens home while she was sleeping earlier this summer, according to the NYPD.

Police are searching for the suspect who entered the home near 21st Street and 26th Road through an unlocked side window shortly before 6 a.m. on July 22.

The 38-year-old victim was sleeping on the couch and woke up to find the intruder in her home. When she confronted him, he fled through the front door without taking anything. The victim was unharmed, police said.

The suspect is described as standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen running west on 26th Road, and was wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts, according to authorities.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
