YORKVILLE — A neighborhood pizza joint was shuttered by the health department last week for having a fly and rodent infestation, among other transgressions, according to city records.

Azure, located at 1668 Third Ave., failed an inspection on September 24 and was slapped with 63 violation points for 10 sanitary issues, ranging from evidence of rats and mice to a fly infestation and failing to keep food at safe temperatures, according to Department of Health records.

Food was also not protected from a potential source of contamination and its plumbing was not properly maintained either, according to the agency.

The pizza parlor, which offers takeout and delivery, serves a range of Italian dishes from pizzas to pastas, as well as burgers, sandwiches and salads.

No one answered the phone at Azure on Monday.
