
EAST HARLEM — A teenage boy was in stable condition after being shot in the lower back, police said.
The teen, whose name has not been released, was standing outside his apartment building by the corner of 123rd Street and Lexington Avenue about 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to the NYPD.
He felt a sharp pain in his back and dropped to the ground. He did not hear a gunshot or see a shooter, police said.
Several witnesses told officers that they saw a group of men running along East 123rd Street away form the scene.
Investigators were reviewing surveillance video from a building nearby in hope of identifying the shooter.
Officers also recovered shell casings of a .25-caliber bullet.
The teen was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was in stable condition, police said.
