SOUTH WILLIAMSBURG — A family was robbed at gunpoint in their home last week by a group of men who took thousands of dollars in cash and a pricey gold chain, police said.

The four suspects knocked on the door of an apartment on South First Street near Borinquen Place around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, police said.

When the family's daughter answered the door, the men forced their way into the apartment and demanded the five people inside go into a back bedroom, police said.

The suspect — two of whom had firearms — then asked, "Where's the money?" police said.

They then searched the apartment, taking a cash box filled with $8,000, a $12,000 chain, a $200 Burberry pocketbook and several smartphones, police said.

None of the individuals in the house were injured.

Police are investigating the incident.
