The Much-Anticipated Vanity Fair Profile of Bill de Blasio Is Out…

…and it’s got a lot of anonymous quotes and seems to have made the mayor’s office not very happy.

One of our resident Queens experts, reporter/producer Katie Honan, pointed out that the writer's anecdotal lede incorrectly states that a "uniformed officer” rings the bell at the annual Flight 587 commemoration in Rockaway. Jamaica Resident Wins First Ever Patty-Eating Contest

It took seven and a half patties, containing a total of 3675 calories, to win the inaugural Jamaican beef patty eating contest. Wayne Algenio, 30, of Jamaica, Queens, beat five other competitors whose task was to eat as many beef patties as possible in five minutes.

Algenio, who's already competed in several eating battles this year, told Gothamist after winning the competition that he "felt a little nervous,” because he “had eaten quite a bit today before this." [Gothamist]
