SUNNYSIDE — Police released a photo Thursday of a man suspected of throwing an acid-like liquid at a woman’s face in Queens last month, sending her to the hospital with chemical burns.

The photo shows the man from behind walking down the street, wearing a white tank top, black shorts and white sneakers. It was not immediately clear where or when the photo was taken, a spokesman for the NYPD said Friday morning.

The attack took place on Wednesday, Aug. 19, after the suspect approached the 59-year-old woman as she was walking to her car in front of 33-02 Skillman Ave. at roughly 5:20 p.m., police said.

The man called to her and when she turned around, he tossed the substance into her face, authorities said.

Police said the victim, who did not know the suspect, was taken to Cornell Hospital where she was treated for third-degree burns and released.

Authorities described the suspect as being about 30 years old and 5-foot-8, with black hair.

He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and white sneakers, according to the NYPD.

Last month, police circulated a sketch of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
