PARK SLOPE — A 33-year-old man woke up after sleeping on a bed in the New York Methodist Hospital emergency room and found that his iPhone, bag and other valuables had been stolen, according to a police report.

The victim lost a $500 pair of Cutler and Gross sunglasses, a $250 Comme des Garcons wallet, a $100 Kelsi Dagger bag and a $300 snake ring, according to the report. The theft happened on Aug. 25 about 5:15 p.m.

A hospital spokeswoman said patients are advised not to keep valuables or large amounts of cash in their hospital rooms.

"We advise that they ask a friend or family member to take them home for safekeeping or, if necessary, have their nurse arrange to put them in the hospital vault," NYM spokeswoman Lyn Hill said.
