19-year-old Shot on Madison Avenue in Harlem, Police Say

EAST HARLEM — A teenager was shot in the leg while standing in the street last week, police said.

The 19-year-old, whose identity has not been released, heard several gunshots while standing in front of 2015 Madison Ave. about 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday. He immediately felt a sharp pain in his right leg, according to the NYPD.

Officers recovered six shell casings from the scene.

The victim’s condition was not immediately available, police said.

Shootings in the 25th Precinct are down compared to last year. Between January and Aug. 16 there have been six shootings compared to 10 during the same period last year, according to NYPD data.
