NEW DORP — The arrest of a New Dorp man for heroin led police to a stash house, prosecutors said.

On Monday, police arrested Frank Puglisi, 35, near the corner of Lindbergh Avenue and Clawson Street after they found he was carrying 30 glassines of heroin, prosecutors said.

Further investigation led police to execute a search warrant on a Coddington Avenue apartment the next day, where they found 190 glassines of heroin inside, prosecutors said.

Anthony Perez, 28, was arrested in the home with Paul Van Manen, 47, and Doreen Pilere, 46. They were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.

Pilere's lawyer, Kevin McKernan, said he wasn't sure why his client was arrested because she didn't live in the apartment where the drugs were found and is only an acquaintance of Van Manen and Perez.

"We have no idea why she was even detained, or why she was arrested," said McKernan, adding that she has pleaded not guilty.

Perez's lawyer declined to comment and Van Manen's lawyer could not be reached.

Puglisi was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance Tuesday, the DA said.

He was released without bail and is due back in court on Oct. 6, according to online court records.

His lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
