GREENWICH VILLAGE — A 26-year-old man was beaten and mugged by two BMX bike-riders, one wielding a golf club, police said.

Police said two men — a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old — rode up to the victim at 4:46 a.m. on Aug. 23 at the southeast corner of East 14th Street and University Place.

The younger man hit the 26-year-old multiple times in the face and back with the golf club, police said, before the pair stole his $300 Motorola cell phone, $190 in cash, $50 wallet, keys, $116 monthly unlimited MetroCard and Chase debit card.

Their total haul amounted to $656, none of which was recovered by police, the NYPD said.

Police said the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital. He was in stable condition at the time, according to the FDNY.

The two attackers fled the scene, but both were later found in the area, police said. A 6th Precinct officer said he spotted the 17-year-old riding a BMX bike with a gold club sticking out of his backpack near the time and place of the assault, according to court documents.

The pair were arrested and hit with several robbery and assault charges, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor charge for criminal possession of a weapon.

They are both being held in jail after a judge set their bail at $10,000 bond or $3,500 cash. They are due back in court on Aug. 28.

Attorneys for the two defendants did not immediately respond to a voicemail left asking for comment.
