Stranger Stabbed Man With Safety Scissors, Police Say

LOWER EAST SIDE — A 22-year-old man was stabbed in the arm by a stranger with a pair of small safety scissors, police said.

The man was walking down the street when the stranger approached him at the northeast corner of Baruch Place and East Houston Street at about 5 p.m. on Aug. 24, police said.

“You look familiar,” the stranger said before stabbing the victim, leaving him with a small puncture wound in the arm, according to the NYPD.

The suspect then fled in an unknown direction. The attacker was described as 30-year-old man standing 5-foot-10 with short, brown curly or wavy hair.

Other recent crimes in the 7th Precinct include:

► A woman lost her $1,495 engagement ring after a thief snatched her bag last week, police said.

The 27-year-old victim was taking luggage into an apartment at 150 East Broadway on Aug. 18 at 2:50 a.m. when the thief tried to grab her phone from her hand, according to the NYPD. Police said she was able to stop him, but he got away with her bag instead, which contained the ring.

Police described the thief as a man standing 5-foot-6 with short brown hair, who appeared to be around 30 years old.
