EAST HARLEM — The Health Department shut down a Mexican eatery on 116th Street after finding evidence of mice in the restaurant.

Mojito’s, on 227 E. 116th St., was closed after it failed an inspection Friday, records show.

Health inspectors also found food was not being stored at the required temperature and a supervisor at the restaurant did not have a Food Protection Certificate during a previous inspection Aug. 18, records show.

Mojito’s has had 13 ungraded inspections since January 2013. Health inspectors have found evidence of rats or mice during seven of those inspections, records show.

The restaurant remained closed Monday afternoon. The owners could not be reached for comment.
