JACKSON HEIGHTS — The neighborhood has topped the list of most complaints about airplane noise since 2014, and now there's a clearer picture of how many calls and emails helped land it there.
The Port Authority has provided a chart with more specific numbers of complaints about noise from LaGuardia Airport logged by Jackson Heights residents.
The data includes online and phone complaints.
An official with the Port Authority attributed most of the calls to the weekend closure of Runway 13 Right/31 Left, which is part of a "federally-mandated runway safety area project."
Planes were rerouted directly over Jackson Heights, resulting in many abrupt Saturday and Sunday morning wakeups that have irked neighbors.
The month of May have been the loudest in the area, judging by complaints.
