EAST HARLEM — A man who rented an apartment he found on Craigslist was in the process of moving in when he discovered $3,600 worth of electronics had been stolen from the unit — and learned the whole thing was a scam, police said.

The victim, a 27-year-old man who hails from Queens, found a listing for the apartment on 239 East 115th St. online and met with a man who called himself “Eddie Carrasquillo,” according to the NYPD.

On August 10, Carrasquillo told the victim that he could move his stuff into the apartment but had to pay a $500 deposit, police said.

The victim brought two televisions, a PlayStation gaming console with four controllers, an iPad, and $500 cash to the apartment. When he came back with more stuff two days later everything was gone, police said.

A building manager told police officers that the apartment was still under construction and nobody was supposed to be allowed inside, according to police.
