EAST ELMHURST — A bicyclist died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday afternoon, officials say.

The collision happened at 30th Avenue and 92nd Street around 2:30 P.M, according to the NYPD.

The man was transported to the hospital at 2:39 p.m., but later died at Elmhurst Hospital.

Neighbors Luz Baptista and Jesly Moreno told DNAinfo that they didn’t hear the initial incident, only the commotion when first responders arrived on scene.

When Baptista went outside to look, she said the man was on the ground, surrounded by about six policemen.

“They were trying to revive him,” Baptista said in Spanish, translated by Moreno, adding that the victim was very quickly taken away in an ambulance.

Police later examined the red bicycle, lying it on the ground and standing it up, according to Moreno.

“They were picking up the bicycle there, trying to put pieces [of the investigation] together," he said.

A Q49 bus was briefly delayed on 92nd Street when police closed it off to traffic. An MTA spokeswoman told DNAinfo that police asked that buses be rerouted, but that the incident did not involve an MTA vehicle.

Police are still looking for the driver in this hit-and-run.
