CENTRAL PARK — Police are searching for a man who robbed another man after choking him in the Rambles on July 30, the NYPD said.

The 53-year-old victim was walking through the Rambles near Transverse Road Number Two and West Drive at 10 p.m. on July 30 when the suspect approached him and said he was hungry and asked if the victim had any money, police said.

When the victim said no and began to walk away, the suspect put him in a chokehold from behind until he passed out, police said.

The victim said he woke up 20 to 30 minutes later and found that his wallet and backpack, which had his glasses, keys, jewelry, gift cards and an unknown amount of cash, were missing.

Police said the victim went to Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital for treatment the next day. Police on Monday did not have further information about the man's condition.

Police described the suspect as a 35-year-old man, standing roughly 5-foot-8 and weighing 160 pounds.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
