PHOTO: Espresso-Balancing Biker Pedals Wrong Way Through Manhattan Traffic

By Emily Frost | July 29, 2015 4:34pm

What is this, Italy?

A man clad in business clothes and black leather shoes was recently spotted cycling the wrong way down a busy Manhattan street — all the while balancing an espresso in a small glass cup, according to a witness.

Upper West Sider Liz Patek did a double-take when she saw the man riding southbound on the Eighth Avenue bike lane against traffic, balancing the afternoon pick-me-up in one hand.

Patek spotted him near West 57th Street on the afternoon of July 23 and quickly snapped a photo, she said.

The cyclist was also balancing a bag from espresso purveyor Nespresso — which has a boutique on West 57th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues — hinting at the provenance of his beverage.
