UPPER WEST SIDE — French bakery La Toulousaine was shuttered by the Health Department Monday after inspectors found a fly infestation, records show.

The Amsterdam Avenue bakery, between West 106th and 107th streets, remained closed Wednesday after wracking up 33 violation points from the Health Department for having flies in "food and non-food areas."

Inspectors also found that the family-run cafe was not vermin-proof and had "conditions conducive to attracting vermin," department records show.

The Health Department visited La Toulousaine on July 10 and doled out 23 violation points, citing, among other things, the presence of flies and food not being stored at proper temperatures.

An exterminator was brought in on Monday and Tuesday of this week, said an employee who declined to give her name.

"There are no rats, no roaches, nothing else — only flies," said the employee, who added that the flies were eliminated after the exterminator's visit.

The employee expected an inspector would revisit the bakery soon and that they'd reopen Thursday or Friday.
