BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — New York City’s expert on all things pizza is getting his own slice of stardom in a new documentary chronicling his love for the pie.

The film, “Scott’s Pizza Tours” follows Scott Wiener, 33, as he leads local tours of the city’s pizzerias and travels the nation as a pizza connoisseur.

Wiener, founder of New York’s guided pizza tasting excursions “Scott’s Pizza Tours,” eats 15 slices a week and holds the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of pizza boxes — currently he has close to 1,000.

The New Jersey native and Bed-Stuy resident also heads Slice Out Hunger, an annual hunger-relief fundraiser that offers $1 slices from the city’s best pizzerias.

Notice Pictures filmmakers Ryan Jones, 31, and Shawn Willis, 29, approached Wiener about a documentary after attending one of his tours in January.

Jones said he was intrigued by Wiener’s knowledge.

Not only do participants take a bite out of some of the city’s best offerings, they also receive an in-depth education in the history, science and culture of New York’s pizzas.

“It was amazing, just encountering someone with that level of passion and enthusiasm,” Jones said.

“He attacks it with all the energy he has and created a successful business around it. And he’s achieved that rare thing: he’s getting paid to do what he loves and to do it all day, every day.”

The film gives viewers a look at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas and also dives into Wiener’s well-known reputation in the pizza industry through interviews with pizzeria owners and experts around the country.

“A big part of this is wanting to show that people who have encountered Scott have been inspired to do what they love,” Jones said.

Most activities in his day-to-day routine are pizza-related, Weiner explained.

As of Wednesday, he had eaten 10 slices in three days. His second favorite food is ice cream, but his cholesterol is in check thanks to daily swimming, biking and drinking a lot of water, he added.

While Wiener has a self-imposed limit to prevent pizza-overload, Jones and Willis have been indulging in their fair share of pies.

“The challenge is trying to hold a camera with one hand and eat a slice with the other,” Jones said, adding that he’s tried some of the best pizza of his life while filming.

The duo launched a Kickstarter on July 8 in hopes of raising $35,000 to finish the documentary.

The filmmakers are also looking to travel with Wiener to Italy, pizza’s birthplace, as well as the United Kingdom, where he’ll open his latest gallery exhibition of pizza boxes.

Completion of “Scott’s Pizza Tours” is expected in time for the fall film festival circuit.

“I’m hoping people see that you can dedicate your life to spreading information about something that seems so mundane,” Wiener said.

“Maybe there are other things in people’s lives that they’re not looking at close enough or giving enough credit to. People can have their own 'pizza.'”
