CRIME BLOTTER: Cabbie Robbed at Knifepoint Near Barclays Center, Police Say

PARK SLOPE — A taxi passenger pulled a knife on a cab driver and stole $20 from him after a fight about the cost of a trip from Queens to Brooklyn, according to a police report.

The cabbie was dropping the passenger off outside the Barclays Center on July 14 about 1:10 p.m. when the passenger "became irate" and snatched $20 from the cabbie, according to the report.

The passenger then pulled a knife on the driver and tried to stab him, but the driver fought off the blade with his hands, according to the report.

Other notable crimes in this week's 78th Precinct crime blotter include the following, with details from police reports:

► A 46-year-old man had just parked his car on President Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues when a thief swiped a bag the man had put down in front of his house. The bag contained a $1,600 Lenovo ThinkPad, a $245 J. Crew sweater and $75 J. Crew pants, Apple earphones, an AT&T Wi-Fi device and an American Express credit card. The theft happened on July 12 about 6:30 p.m.

► A burglar entered an apartment through an open rear window and took two Apple laptops while one of the residents was sleeping in her room on July 19 about 12:30 a.m.

► A 21-year-old mom had her wallet stolen after she left it in the bottom of her stroller so she could follow her child around Chuck E. Cheese's at the Atlantic Terminal Mall on July 14 about 8:20 p.m.

► About $9,650 in ATM parts were stolen from a U-Haul storage facility at 394 Fourth Ave. near Sixth Street. The thieves took cash dispensers from the storage room at about 2 a.m. on July 17.

► A checkbook, credit cards, keys and $500 in concert tickets were stolen from a woman’s car parked on Sixth Avenue and Berkeley Place while she was having dinner with friends on July 14 about 7 p.m.
