EAST HARLEM — A man who was trying to beat his neighbor with a baseball bat Sunday ended up hitting the man’s dog in the head and slamming a door on the pooch’s tail.

Jesus Vasquez, 66, was arrested at the Wagner Houses Sunday morning for the incident at 2390 Second Ave., police said.

Vasquez chased his 43-year-old neighbor into the apartment building shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday and swung the bat at him multiple times — missing him each time, prosecutors charge.

Once inside, Vasquez turned his attention to the man's dog, hitting the pooch in the head before slamming a door on the dog’s tail, causing it to bleed, according to the NYPD.

Vasquez was arraigned Monday on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and attempted assault, according to court documents. He was held on $5,000 bail and a judge issued an order of protection against him.

Vasquez's lawyer did not immediately reply to an inquiry about the case.
