QUEENS — A 41-year-old Queens man was killed Sunday after he lost control of his car and crashed into a tree in South Jamaica, police said.

Authorities said that Troy Smith, of Ozone Park, was speeding on North Conduit Avenue when he lost control of his 2010 Hyundai sedan at 6:30 p.m.

Smith, who was driving westbound, veered right, causing the car to strike the curb and mount the sidewalk.

The vehicle began to slide sideways and slammed into a tree in front of a home on North Conduit Avenue, between 159th and 160th streets, police said.

Sources said that Smith was driving about 65 to 70 mph.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
