GOWANUS — A man broke into an 87-year-old woman's bedroom and took an envelope full of cash while she was in bed last week, according to a police report.

The thief pushed his way into the First Street building near Bond Street as a 54-year-old woman was exiting July 3 at about 8:30 a.m., authorities said. The man then locked the door so the woman could not get back in.

The man entered the elderly woman's bedroom and took an envelope with $200 in cash along with a bag and miscellaneous cards, according to the report.

The case is under investigation.
