Woman Dies After Car Crashes Into Fence, Officials Say

OCEAN BREEZE — An 81-year-old woman died after the car she was in crashed into a fence in front of an Ocean Breeze home on Monday, officials said.

The 80-year-old male driver lost control of his car and crashed into the fence at 35 Jackson Ave. at about 10:18 a.m., the NYPD said. Portions of the fence were knocked down after the accident.

Mary Pannese, who was in the front passenger seat during the crash and lived on Jackson Avenue, was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver was taken to the same hospital in stable condition, police said.
