BATTERY PARK CITY — Dance fans can take in in some culture — and lovely Hudson River views — during a festival of free nightly performances in Battery Park City’s Robert F. Wagner Park next month.

The 34th annual Battery Dance Festival, curated by local troupe the Battery Dance Company, is bringing performances to an outdoor stage set along the waterfront in the 20 Battery Place park each evening from Aug. 15 through Aug. 20.

The shows, which run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will feature a variety of dance companies and styles, including post-modern, classical ballet and Indian.

The festival, formerly called the Downtown Dance Festival, had long been located in The Battery but moved last year to Wagner Park because parts of The Battery remain under construction

Performances in the festival include New York debuts of the Polish Dance Theater and Colombia's Sankofa Danzafro, as well as a host of city dancers such as Brooklyn's Indelible Dance Company and the Battery Dance Company’s own modern dance troupe.

For more information about the festival and performances, head to the Battery Dance Company website.
