EAST HARLEM — A man who fell asleep on the steps of the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue subway stop punched one of the officers who woke him up, police said.

Colton Deans, 26, was asleep on the steps near McDonalds Lenox Avenue Sunday about 1:40 a.m. when two officers woke him up and asked if he needed any help, according to the NYPD.

Deans yelled, “F--- you, you're not a doctor,” and swung at one of the officers, according to the criminal complaint.

After Deans swung, the officer's partner wrestled him to the ground. Deans punched the officer in the side of the face three or five times, according to the complaint.

The officers eventually arrested Deans, who was taken to Bellevue Hospital. The officer was taken to Beth Israel Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

Deans, who is charged with assaulting a police officer, was arraigned Sunday. He will undergo a psychiatric exam and is due in court Aug. 3.

His lawyer declined to comment on the case.
