LOWER MANHATTAN — A storied private social club from England is looking to open a location in Lower Manhattan, according to reports.
London's Groucho Club, founded in 1985, became a hotspot for those in the media, artists and numerous celebrities.
The club, located in London's Soho neighborhood, was recently sold, and is now eyeing a new location in downtown Manhattan.
"We have also begun to look for a property in lower Manhattan so that we can have a long overdue home for members in New York," Groucho's chief executive Matt Hobbs said on the club's website.
According to the BBC, the club's amenities include three bars, two restaurants and 20 bedrooms spread over several floors. Actress Rachel Weisz is said to be among its celebrity clientele.
To join, members "must be proposed and seconded by current standing members," according to its website.
