WEST VILLAGE — Two men attacked a third with a mason jar outside the McDonald’s on Varick Street, police said.

A 27-year-old man and a 31-year-old man ganged up on another 27-year-old man outside the McDonald's at 208 Varick St. about 3:50 a.m. on June 14, officials said.

The two men punched and kicked the victim, and the 27-year-old alleged assailant hit the victim several times with his own shoe, police said.

Then the 31-year-old allegedly smashed a glass mason jar over the victim's head, shattering it, police said.

Information on the cause of the fight was not immediately available, but police said the incident was reported by four witnesses — two 29-year-old men, a 49-year-old man, and a 51-year-old man — none of whom knew the victim.

The victim was hurt and in substantial pain, police said, but specifics on his injuries were not immediately available.

The alleged attackers were arrested and charged with felony assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon.

It was not immediately possible to reach attorneys for either of them. The 27-year-old was released by a judge without bail, but the 31-year-old is being held at Riker's Island on $1,000 bail.

Both of the accused are due back in court on June 19.
