The MTA has trimmed down its subway announcements once again.

The transit agency recently rolled out abbreviated announcements in one 10-car train that runs on the 2 and 5 lines to reduce the "dwell" time in the station, MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz said.

The goal of the shorter announcements is to save 2 to 4 seconds per station, Ortiz said.

The traditional "stand clear of the closing doors" now cuts off after "stand clear."

Additionally, "this is a 5 express train to the Bronx," has become "5 express to the Bronx," according to Ortiz and a video shot by Max Diamond and published on his YouTube account Tuesday.

The changes — the latest round of which went into effect May 28 — are the MTA's way of "eliminating verbosity in borough and terminal announcements" and door warning messages, Ortiz explained. They are also designed to cut down on long transfer announcements and help improve the quality and clarity of the audio, Ortiz said.

He added that the the agency was looking to implement the changes on the 6, 7, and F lines soon.

19-year-old Diamond, who goes by DJ Hammer on YouTube, said he's not sold on the changes.

“It is definitely harder to understand because there are no words leading into the announcement. We were kind of caught off guard,” he said.
