CROWN HEIGHTS — A teen snatched a necklace with a crystal pendant from a 47-year-old woman's neck after asking her for directions to a Chinese restaurant, police said.

The woman was walking down East New York Avenue near Schenectady Avenue while talking on the phone with her boyfriend at about 4:40 p.m. on Monday, when the suspect approached and asked her for directions, police said.

Before she could answer, the teen tore the necklace carrying a Swarovski crystal pendant off of her neck. After a brief struggle, the boy fled north on Schenectady Avenue with the jewelry, police said.

The victim estimated the necklace is worth $400, police said.

No suspects have been identified in the robbery and no arrests have been made.
