EAST WILLIAMSBURG — A driver who was trying to avoid hitting a man in the street ended up getting hit in the chest with the man's belt in an altercation, police said.

The victim, 48, was driving on Bushwick Avenue on Wednesday, May 27, around 9:55 p.m. when Yehzid Solano, 22, blocked his path, according to police and the Brooklyn District Attorney.

To try and avoid hitting him, the victim stopped, police said. Solano started spitting on the victim's car and pulled off his belt, police said.

When the victim got out of his car, Solano wrapped his belt around his fist and punched the man in the chest and arm, police and the DA's office said.

Solano then unrolled his belt and started swinging it in a threatening manner, nearly hitting the man with the belt's buckle, police and the DA's office said.

Police arrested Solano and found four halves of two unprescribed Xanax pills in his wallet, police and the DA's office said.

Solano has been hit with seven charges, including assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was released on recognizance, and his next court date is on Aug. 4.

His attorney did not have a comment.

Solano has also been in court in Queens for three other incidents, including violating restraining orders and throwing a man into a glass door of a deli.

Solano was accused of criminal mischief for a fight that happened on June 8, 2014 around 1:20 a.m. in a Maspeth deli on Fresh Pond Road near 60th Avenue, according to the Queens District Attorney's office.

Solano's also been in court for violating an order of protection twice by making threatening phone calls, according to criminal complaints.

On March 28, 2014 between 7:50 and 9:05 p.m., Solano called a woman in Queens several times in violation of an order of protection, saying "I'll f**k you up," according to a complaint.

And on April 6, 2015 between 10:30 a.m. and 11:20 a.m., he called a woman in Middle Village in violation of the same order of protection and said "I'm going to come over there and f**k you all up," a complaint said.

Solano has been charged with multiple counts of harassment and criminal contempt. The cases are pending.
