PARK SLOPE — A man had his wallet stolen after leaving it on the counter at a Seventh Avenue newsstand, according to a police report.

The 56-year-old victim left his wallet on the counter of a newsstand on Seventh Avenue and Union Street about 12:55 p.m. on May 27, according to the report.

The newsstand owner said he was told the victim put his wallet down while he was buying a copy of the New York Times from a stack outside the newsstand.

"It was left outside by the newspapers.... maybe somebody picked it up," said the owner, Faris, who declined to give his last name.

Overall, major crimes in the 78th Precinct have dropped 1 percent this year compared with the same period in 2014, according to the latest figures from the NYPD.
