Louisiana-born musician Jon Batiste will take over as bandleader for Stephen Colbert's Late Show, Colbert announced in a comic video Thursday.
Colbert tweeted the news:

— Stephen Colbert (@StephenAtHome) June 4, 2015The New York-based musician grew up playing percussion with his family's band in New Orleans and then switched to piano at age 11, according to his website.
He studied at Juilliard and later formed his band Stay Human when he graduated, his website says.
"The Late Show"'s first episode featuring Colbert and Batiste is scheduled for Sept. 8.
