FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A man was attacked as he swiped his metro card inside the Rector Street station last week, police said.

The 43-year-old victim told police that a man pounced on him and placed him in a headlock as he was headed through the subway turnstiles at about 11:30 p.m. on May 28.

The victim was thrown to the floor and the thief grabbed his wallet then fled, according to the NYPD.

The man tried to chase his attacker but lost him as he ran out of the station. The wallet contained several credit cards but no money, police said.

Police are still investigating the crime.
