'Lake Kensington' Is Back. Hope You Didn't Like Those Shoes.

Lake Kensington

If you've already made your way down our entire list of places to swim before parks department pools open, here's a new spot for you. If you're into collected rain water. Which some furry New Yorkers are.

The heavy rains that have poured down upon the city periodically since Sunday afternoon have brought a familiar nuisance to Kensington commuters: A giant puddle flooding the path to the south ramp of the Fort Hamilton Parkway stop on the F and G trains.

The City Council's Deputy Leader for Policy and the MTA both assured Twitter users that this matter will be addressed immediately. The issue has persisted for at least a decade without resolution, and the giant puddle results in a hazardous situation since pedestrians, including children, en route to the train skirt the water by climbing onto the raised base of the spiked fence between the foot path and the west side of the Prospect Expressway, on which many drivers violate the 30-mph speed limit.

When will this issue actually get resolved? The neighborhood waits to find out. But until further notice (or until the weather improves), plan on wearing your rainboots.
