Thief Swipes $2K in Advil and Nexium from UWS Drugstore

UPPER WEST SIDE — A thief stole $2,070 in medication from a Duane Reade over the weekend, police said. 

The male suspect was seen taking thousands of dollars worth of Advil and Nexium off the shelves of the Duane Reade at Broadway and West 70th Street before fleeing on May 24 at 6:30 p.m., police said. 

Police did not have a description of the man or approximate age. Duane Reade declined to comment. 

Other notable crimes in the 20th Precinct:  

► A 67-year-old man discovered his $1,500 racing bike was stolen from a bike rack attached to his car, which he parked at the corner of West 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue between May 24 at 10 a.m. until May 25 at 7 a.m., police said. 

► A woman's purse containing $900 in cash, her Samsung Galaxy phone and credit cards was stolen after she left it unattended for a few minutes at the Starbucks on Broadway at West 70th Street on May 17 at 7:30 a.m., police said. Starbucks could not immediately be reached for comment.

► Two men were seen attempting to steal two spindles of copper wiring, worth $10,000, from a construction site at 21 West End Ave. on May 14 at 6:45 p.m., police said. However, the suspects fled the scene empty-handed when they realized they had been spotted. Police did not have a description of the men.

► A 49-year-old man reported having his locker broken into while he took a shower at the West Side Y on West 63rd Street on May 22 at 8 p.m., police said. His combination lock, wallet and phone were all gone from his locker when he returned. Police did not know the value of the stolen property. The building manager at the Y was not immediately available for comment.
