GREENWICH VILLAGE — A new membership card will grant people who live and work in the Village exclusive discounts at local businesses.

The Village Access Card is being issued by the local business improvement district, the Village Alliance, as a way to support small businesses.

“With the intense retail competition from discounted online businesses, it is more important than ever for us to support our mom-and-pop stores," said William Kelley, the BID's executive director. "After all, getting to know your corner store is part of the joy of living in a village.”

The Alliance will mail the card to any address in the zip codes 10003, 10011, 10012, and 10014. The card can also be picked up in person at the BID's office at 8 East Eighth St. as long as the applicant brings proof of address.

Cardholders can get discounts and even free perks from dozens of local businesses, including 15 percent off at the craft beer bar Arts & Crafts Beer Parlor, 10 percent off fitness classes at Barre 3, or 10 percent off a first visit to Village Dental Medicine.

A full list of the available deals is on the Village Alliance website and will be updated regularly as new businesses sign on to the program, Kelley said.

To get a Village Access Card, email your name and mailing address to info@villagealliance.org. More information is available on the Village Alliance website.
