You can sell anything as art these days — or at least the artists of Bushwick will try.

Local artist Nick Hugh Schmidt, 28, is auctioning off his Facebook email login and password Friday night at the Shwick market, after eBay shut down his attempt to sell the information online.

The initial online auction for access to Schmidt's Facebook profile had 35 bids that went as high as $165, according to Vice's Motherboard.

It's not just a weird, masochistic act — it's artistic commentary, Schmidt has said.

He sees the auction as a statement on how fragile private information is in the age of hackers and the NSA.

Willingly revealing his digital self is a way to beat the NSA to the punch, he explained.

"It's pointless to try to hide, so I would rather reverse the trend, subvert my surveillance by exposing myself before they can," Schmidt told Brokelyn.

Plus, he wants to see what someone would do with his profile as a social experiment.

He's hoping that whoever buys it will stay in touch for future projects.

The bidding for a chance to have Schmidt's Facebook profile forever starts at 8 p.m. Friday at the market, located at 6 Charles Place, according to Bushwick Daily. The starting bid is 99 cents.

For those who aren't actually interested in buying a Facebook profile, Friday night's event will be accompanied by free beer.
