INWOOD — A shooting near an Inwood nightclub early Sunday morning left one man dead and another injured, police said.

Ernesto Santiago, 31, was shot in the chest and Luis Rodriguez, 33, was shot in the groin after a fight broke out near the Tette Club at 154 Post Ave. at roughly 4 a.m. Sunday, the NYPD said.

The victims were found in front of 3896 Tenth Ave., a garage that is adjacent to the club, police said

Santiago, a Bronx resident, was taken to Montefiore Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Rodriguez was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition, officials said.

Police initially said four people had been arrested near 218th Street and Broadway after they fled the scene in a car, though no arrests were ultimately made.

Police could not release further information about the individuals detained because the investigation is ongoing, they said.

The shooting marks the first murder of the year in the 34th Precinct.

Tette has a capacity of 575 people and is open from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Fridays through Sundays, according to Community Board 12 records. It was unclear whether the fight started inside or outside of the club or whether or not the people involved had been at the club.

The club owner could not immediately be reached for comment.
