QUEENS — A car caught fire under the elevated subway tracks on Friday evening sending acrid fumes into the air and snarling train traffic on the N, Q and R lines, fire officials and MTA said.

Fire officials responded to a call at 6:40 p.m. and found a vehicle ablaze near 42-15 Crescent St.

N, Q and R trains were running with residual delays because of FDNY activity at Queensboro Plaza stop, the MTA's website said.

Fire fighters had contained the blaze by 7:25 p.m. and emergency workers were evalutaing one person for injuries, FDNY said.
