THE BRONX — A woman was shot in the head and killed in Wakefield Monday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
The shooting happened at East 237th Street and Bullard Avenue at about 5:48 p.m. The woman was transported to Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, officials said.
Police took a man into custody after the shooting and a firearm was recovered at the scene, a police spokeswoman said.
It was not immediately clear what motivated the shooting or what relationship, if any, the man and woman had to each other.
The investigation is ongoing.
