EAST VILLAGE — East Village Radio is ready to make a comeback.

The independent radio station will be back online this week with a renovated studio and a new programming schedule, according to general manager Peter Ferraro.

The station has spent the last few months refurbishing the station’s tiny First Avenue studio with brand new equipment and finalizing the programming lineup, which includes EVR favorites like “Chances with Wolves” and “Black 'N Blue Takeover” as well as new shows, Ferraro said.

“I think the station is going to sound better than it’s ever been,” he said.

East Village Radio ran for 11 years, hosting artists like Mark Ronson and The Smiths' Andy Rourke and attracted more than a million listeners worldwide before it closed in May 2014 because it could not afford to pay the digital royalty fees.

This time, East Village Radio — and its new sister station, Brooklyn Radio — will be part of Dash Radio network, an online radio platform founded by Ferraro and Scott “DJ Skee” Kenney.

Unlike other Internet-based music services like Spotify and Pandora, human beings — not algorithms — will determine what gets played on the station, he explained.

Listeners can tune into their favorite shows by visiting East Village Radio’s website or downloading the free Dash Radio app, Ferraro said.

Fans buzzed with excitement after the station announced its relaunch in December, but EVR’s deejays also said they were happy when they heard the news.

“It was exciting and a little bit of like, ‘Wait — this doesn’t happen,’” said “Chances with Wolves” co-host Kenan Juska.

“I grew up in New York and as a New Yorker, we’ve all become accustomed to losing things we love, things we care about [like restaurants and bars]. It’s become par for the course.”

Kevin Pederson, who hosted “Pizza Party” with his best friend Max Cateno for about 10 years, said they loved the station so much they didn’t think twice when they were offered the chance to return.

“It the easiest ‘yes’ I have ever given,” he said.
