Monday, April 27
The Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum occupies the former residence of Scottish American industrialist Andrew Carnegie, and is a national historic landmark. It’s also the only museum in the nation devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design. Their extraordinary collection of wall coverings is featured in a new high-tech space, the Immersion Room, offering visitors the experience of using the museum’s innovative, interactive Pen to select digital images of wallpapers or sketch their own design and then project them onto the walls at full scale to see their impact. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., 2 E. 91st St., between 5th and Madison Avenues, Upper East Side. $16/$18.

Tuesday, April 28
Mood Designer Fabrics, the fashion fabric outlet featured on Heidi Klum’s Project Runway, offers a free six week hands-on sewing class for adult students interested in learning to understand sewing terms, select fabric, read, work and adapt patterns and operate digital sewing equipment. Wednesday, April 29
Showing at Scandinavia House, the home of the American-Scandinavian Foundation, is "Prize Prints: The Queen Sonja Print Award" a biennial exhibition and prize established to encourage young artists working in the graphic arts. The show features recent work by the 2012 and 2014 prize winners, Tiina Kivinen (Finland) and Svend-Allan Sørensen (Denmark), as well as a selection of works by the prize's founders, printmakers H.M. Queen Sonja of Norway, Kjell Nupen, and Ørnulf Opdahl. 58 Park Ave. at 38th Street, Midtown. 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Free.

Fueled by constantly evolving digital technology, creators are exploring different ways to tell stories. "Sensory Stories" at the Museum of the Moving Image invites visitors to interact with new immersive technologies and creative experiments that engage sight, hearing, touch, and even smell.
