Craigslist: Get Paid Minimum Wage to Play D.B. Cooper on TV

By Emilie Ruscoe | April 22, 2015 1:31pm

The American Heroes Channel, a network formerly known as The Military Channel and owned by Discovery Communications, is shooting a D.B. Cooper biopic, and they've cast their casting net wide by posting to NYC Craigslist seeking their lead man.

"Ideally" candidates for the role will already own all of their own costume items, including a mother of pearl tie pin, the post said.

Do you own a mother of pearl tie pin? Are you free on Thursday? Can you be described as "a 30 to 55 years old Caucasian male with short dark brown hair?"

If you're not sure if you are, the production recommends that you google D.B. Cooper to take a look at various versions of the composite sketch for his case.

While the scope of the project is unclear from the post, it's made clear that while actors on the project will be getting paid, they won't be earning the big bucks: the hour rate for being on set is $8.75, which is New York State's minimum wage.

The production is also casting for the role of stewardess Tina Mucklow, the primary witness to the D.B. Cooper hijacking, which occurred in 1971, resulted in the perpetrator receiving $200,000 in ransom money before escaping, and remains unsolved to this day.

Cooper's actual identity was never confirmed. But there is a theory out there that Mad Men's Don Draper is going to become D.B. Cooper in the series finale.
