Man Choked Girlfriend and Slashed Her with Scissors, Police Say

ELMHURST — The NYPD is offering a $2,000 reward for help finding a man who attacked his girlfriend with scissors and choked her in March.

The suspect — who goes by a long list of aliases including Mario A. Rubiano-Gonzales, William Para, Orlando Morales and John Zea — allegedly choked his girlfriend and slashed her with scissors inside of the victim's apartment on Pettit Avenue at roughly 3 a.m. on March 9, police said.

The suspect fled after the attack and is known to hang out on Roosevelt Avenue, police said.

There's been a sharp jump in domestic assaults in the 110th Precinct, which covers Corona and Elmhurst. 

There were 57 of these assault last year compared to 82 this year, a 44 percent increase, NYPD records show.  In February the domestic assaults were up 72 percent compared with 2014 statistics.
