Friday, April 17
Catch a free family movie Friday or Saturday at the Tribeca Film Festival Drive-in. Showing Friday evening is the Disney classic "Lady and the Tramp" and screening Saturday is "A Faster Horse," the world premiere of a documentary celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the Ford Mustang. The open air screenings are part of the 14th Tribeca Film Festival. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the films beginning at dusk (8:15 p.m.) Brookfield Place, 230 Vesey St., Battery Park City. Free.

Saturday, April 18
Record Store Day, an annual retail event celebrating the culture of independent brick and mortar record stores, was conceived in 2007 and has been growing steadily ever since. Record labels prepare exclusive releases for the day and many stores also host signing events and live concerts. Participating stores in New York City include Black Star (352 Lenox Ave., Harlem), Harmony Records (1625 Unionport Rd., Parkchester), Majors Records (12 Barrett Ave., Staten Island) and dozens of stores in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. In Living Stereo, (2 Great Jones St., NoHo) is featuring live bands and free beer from 1 p.m. Williamsburg’s Rough Trade NYC (64 North 9th St.) is opening at 9 a.m. and will feature live bands from noon with punk pop legends The Buzzcocks performing at 1 p.m. and Kim Gordon playing at 7:30 p.m. Check here for the full list of participating Record Store Day shops. The New York Rangers attained the National Hockey League's best record in the regular season, and they line up against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup playoffs Saturday night. The Stanley Cup is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League playoff winner. Madison Square Garden, Pennsylvania Plaza, Midtown. Tickets from $200. From 8 p.m.

Sunday, April 19
The Tribeca Family Festival is presenting “Downtown Youth Behind The Camera,” a program of short films made by elementary and middle school student filmmakers from the downtown communities of New York City. Guest speaker, Academy and Emmy Award winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be on hand for the young filmmakers and sharing advice. 11 a.m., Free. SVA Silas Theatre, 333 West 23rd St., Chelsea.

The Orchid Show: Chandeliers celebrates the elegance of the orchid at The New York Botanical Gardens with an expanded showcase of hanging designs inside the Haupt Conservatory. Final day! From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. $20. 2900 Southern Blvd., Bronx.
