STATEN ISLAND — A 15-year-old girl was shot in the face while out walking with a friend in Port Richmond Sunday night, police said.

The girl, whose name was not released, was passing by 806 Henderson Ave., near Chappell Street, about 10:30 p.m. when a man nearby opened fire, an NYPD spokesman said.

A bullet grazed her face and she was treated at Richmond University Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

The shooter, who wore a black hoodie and red shorts, was not immediately arrested, police said.

It was not immediately clear why he started shooting, police said.

The other girl was not injured in the shooting, police said.
